Scotsman Budget Guide to Europe
Hi fellow travellers .My name is Dougie Baird and I come from
Glasgow,Scotland. Love to help you with your travels around Europe
and who better to help you save money on holiday than a Scotsman .
Getting There
Get a cheap flight with Ryanair from most places in Europe.
You will fly into Beauvais airport .
Flying from USA maybe cheaper flying into London and use budget airlines to Paris. Need to get a bus into Paris . €13 single for the 1 hour journey
Where To Stay
You will arrive Porte Mallot which is ten minute walk from Arc de Tromphe.
Porte Mallot is a good area for a budget traveller . If there is such a thing in Paris. Try and get a hotel near the Arc de Tromphe. Hotels are not cheap and always check Tripadvisor http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/
My daughter stayed at a hostel in Paris. She had her luggage stolen .
So I would avoid hostels in the french capital.
Have heard the Latin Quater is a good place for budget travellers to crash. Like any other city you get what you pay for. The city is not cheap
and if you pay cheap you get poor quality lodgings.
Where to Eat and drink
Paris is not cheap. You can pay €8 for a beer. Glass of wine is slightly cheaper. [The wine is good]. Ask for the house wine and always check the price.
Wine can get very very expensive so beware.
Paris famous for it`s cuisine. If you have the cash splash it but if your on a budget check the boards outside bars for specials menus.
Prix fixe menus are set menus. Which are good value for us budget travellers.
When at the theme parks you have the option of nip out to the market place for budget friendly fast food. Dodge the tourist area`s restaurants they will rob you.
While in the city Look out for local bakeries . We had pain au choculait.
Which is a crossants with chocolate in the middle.
Getting Around While There and how to get to Disneyland
The Metro is very easy to use and the Open top bus is a great way to see the sights.
Take the R E R Metro no1 from Charles de Gaulle to Marne-la-Vallée - Chessy
Takes around 40 mins
The station is right at the gates of Euro Disney.
Following the success of Disneyland in California and the Disneyworld in Florida, plans to build a similar Disney park in Europe emerged in 1972.
The park is great fun but a lot smaller than the USA . You may want to get two park ticket. Walt Disney Studios Park is the second theme park of Disneyland Paris.
While in Paris, Also Visit
Eiffel Tower,Arc de Triomphe, Louvremuseum,Pompidou centre and further out of the city the palace of Versailes. The river Seine is cool to walk along.
Join the buzz of the left bank. It`s one of the few things free in Paris.
Please sit back and dream about your trip to Paris and a day out at Disneyland Paris .
