TORONTO OCT 2006
This was my first taste of Canada , Always dreamed of seeing the falls, getting to the top of the CN Tower and walking up the world`s longest street.
The flight was not too long from the UK. Our hotel was central . Walking distance to all the famous sites.
Situated on Lake Ontario, Toronto, Canada's largest and most cosmopolitan city, has a vibrant waterfront and an exciting mix of cultures. It also offers a huge range of attractions including theatres, concert halls, clubs and galleries, as well as funky shops, trendy bars and smart restaurants. Canada occupies a major northern portion of North America, sharing the land borders with the contiguous United States to the south and the U.S. state of Alaska to the northwest, stretching from the Atlantic Ocean in the east to the Pacific Ocean in the west; to the north lies the Arctic Ocean. By total area (including its waters), Canada is the second-largest country in the world—after Russia
The name Canada comes from a St. Lawrence Iroquoian word, kanata, meaning "village" or "settlement". In 1535, indigenous inhabitants of the present-day Quebec City region used the word to direct French explorer Jacques Cartier towards the village of Stadacona. Cartier later used the word Canada to refer not only to that particular village, but also the entire area subject to Donnacona (the chief at Stadacona); by 1545, European books and maps had begun referring to this region as Canada.
STRATHCONA HOTEL TORONTO
Stayed 3 nights. Perfect location Price ok
Walking distance to most of the main tourist attractions.
Would stay here again.
Saturday night was bit noisey but other nights were fine.
Take the ferry over to the Toronto Islands
Lovelly walks and the views of the City skyline
Via train to niagra falls
Niagara Falls is a top destination with a split personality of sorts, both a citizen of the United States and of Canada. Views are generally accepted to be better on the Canadian side, with more to do .
