THISTLE HOTEL GLASGOW

Got an e mail from Bigmouth Media to attend a Bloggers Meetup at the Thistle Hotel in Glasgow`s City Centre. I replied right away saying I would be delighted to attend. I have a special fondness for the hotel as I was born in a tenement at 81 Wemyss street where the hotel was built.

When I was 11 years old we moved out of Wemyss street and moved west to Scotstoun.
The house was not perfect but the memories have stayed with me until today.
Coming to the Thistle was a thrill for me .

When we arrived we were taken up stairs by one of our hosts Leanne Rinning .
Leanne is head of online PR for bigmouth media. We are met up the stairs by bloggers
and staff . I meet up with Tommy Butler again . We were both at the Tweetmeet the night before. Tommy owns Glasgow.com
At 7.30pm Leanne gives us details of our night . Richael Harding and Claire Fotheringham
tells us a bit of history of the Thistle . One of the bar managers gives us a cocktail demo .
Looks fab . Chris from Australia stepped forward to have a go.

Next stop is to see the indoor swimming pool, steam room and sauna. Great size for a hotel. Next upstairs for a tour of the Kitchen.
Wow The Kitchen is busy. Billy Campbell [the head chef] runs the show and tells us info about cooking for large numbers . Staff work hard to serve the event on at the Ballroom.
We then take the lift up to the top of the hotel to see the view across the city .
This brought back memories of looking out our old flat in Wemyss street.
Then it`s back downstairs for some Buffet tasting .
Billy and the catering staff are at the top of their game so as expected everyone really enjoyed this part of the tour .
The Thistle is a perfect venue for a special event but I have noticed you can book rooms at the lower budget websites. The hotel was full the night we were there so its very popular.
I would like to thank Billy,Claire,Rachael,Leanne and the king of the cocktails for making our night so special.
