RIDDELL FIDDLES
Bairdstravel had the pleasure of meeting the Riddellfiddles at Glasgow airport on 1st July2009.They performed to the public before leaving for their Vancouver tour. Certainly a first for us,entertainment awaiting a delayed flight. Excellent
Riddell Fiddles is a community based fiddle group from the Scottish Borders. Traditional music workshops are provided for people of all ages to learn and play together and we have workshops from resident and visiting tutors of excellence. We also include guitar accompaniment, playing for dancing and Stepdance.
A comprehensive website is provided freely as part of the learning resources. (www.riddellfiddles.co.uk). There is the opportunity to perform together at all sorts of locations from village halls and local events to places further afield.
Riddell Fiddles have visited Cape Breton and the Shetlands and recently returned from the Vancouver area of B.C. where they participated in 2 fiddle camps at Abbotsford and Roberts Creek on the
Sunshine Coast as well as Texada Diversity Festival and visited Vancouver. To see more pics from the trip visit
