Yoker residents have been victorious in their campaign to have the empty multi-story flats in the Plean Street area demolished.
Yoker is a western district of Glasgow, lying on the northern bank of the Clyde to the east of Clydebank. It is located approximately 5 miles west of the City Centre. From the fourteenth century a ferry has linked Yoker with the burgh of Renfrew on the south bank. Although shipbuilding has declined, the Yarrows shipyard, now owned by BAE as part of BAE Systems Surface Ships is still in operation on the Yoker/Scotstoun boundary.

Having spent my teenage life running around Scotstoun it was appealing for me to stand and watch the end of the Plean street flats . When I was young
these flats were well sought after. My friend George Watt lived high up in the
west block. George plays with glasgow band Big George and the business.
Map of Plean street and surrounding streets. Which will shortly have two changes .
