Comfort Inn I drive

          ORLANDO OCTOBER 1993

Please time to have a look at slideshow above .

October 1993 Bairdstravel stayed at the Comfort Inn . Comfort Inn is on Internatinal Drive . The first time you visit Orlando you will be shocked at the size of the place. You may ask yourself if you can survive without
the  Carhire they beg you to take .Well the answer is yes if you stay on
International drive. If you stay any where else you need the car .

International Drive (often abbreviated I-Drive) is Orlando, Florida's main tourist strip, located southwest of downtown. It is 14.5 miles long. Only the northern part is in Orlando; the rest is in unincorporated Orange County, and a recent extension (which doesn't connect to the rest yet), known as International Drive South, is partly in Osceola County. The portion of I-Drive from Sand Lake Road southward to SR 536, and the segment of Universal Boulevard that runs parallel, make up the Downtown Orange County district.

Warning you will never fit into the Levi`s you buy at Beltz`s

International Drive is home to many hotels, small tourist attractions, restaurants, and other commercial properties, in addition to the major attractions of SeaWorld, the Orange County Convention Center and Universal Orlando (across I-4 from I-Drive). In recent years it has become a particularly popular place for British tourists to visit or stay. The I-Ride trolley (a fancy-looking bus) runs along most of I-Drive, and is marketed toward tourists. Several Lynx public bus routes also serve I-Drive. It also offers helicopter rides.

                                  Stake and Ale bar

The north end of I-Drive is a cul-de-sac at the Prime Outlets International (formerly Belz Factory Outlet Mall). It roughly parallels I-4 to the southeast, running south and southwest towards Walt Disney World. It gets less crowded with businesses and traffic as it continues south. Originally the name went west along what is now World Center Drive and SR 536, but the name was dropped there when the southern extension was built.

One of several McDonald's to call itself the nation's largest is at the intersection with Sand Lake Road.

               Wet 'n Wild

Orlando is consistently rated as one of the top waterparks in America and is honored by Aquatic's International as the first true waterpark. Having and area of around 30-acres, there are a large variety of attractions at Wet 'n Wild Orlando - ranging from a relaxing lazy river to wild, high-speed body slides. These include:

  • The Storm - You push yourself down into a steep tunnel that sends you flying down extremely fast into a giant bowl that sends you spinning around with mist surrounding as you drop into the pool below.

                                           Bairdstravel on the Der Stuka

  • Der Stuka - Push yourself down a six-story speed slide that sends you flying down a 250-foot, nearly vertical drop that transitions to a 115-foot water runway.
  • Bomb Bay - The ride for all dare devils is right here. Go inside this rocket with heart beat affects waiting there not knowing when the trap door that sends you down a 76-foot, nearly vertical slide drops you to the depths below.
  • Knee Ski - A cable-operated ski lets you kneeboard like a pro around a half-mile long lake.
  • Wake Skating - Everyone from beginner to expert can show their stuff on the WakeZone Cableway.
  • The Wild One - Two people are pulled by a Jet Ski around the lake on big, bouncy tubes that make for a wild ride.
