DAY 16 KLAMATH FALLS

Waking up after the karaoke disaster my head was bursting and my arm was all scraped and cut so it was nice for George to suggests that we have a longer lie in to day as we would have a long train journey through the night from Klamath Falls to San Francisco.

Not that we had forgotten just sliped our drunken mind lol so we turned on the tv as we relaxed and watched programs which were very interesting and moving as today was 9/11 and it brought all the horrors back from that day so as it was our last day we would get some bread to feed the ducks then go the Blue Star memorial park for a minutes silence to honour 9/11

.Another lovley warm day and it was a walk down town to the local supermarket for some bread and something to eat for George and I then it was down to the park to feed the ducks but thought we would stop off and have a beer.

Klamath Falls lakeside
To our surprise most bars did not open until 2pm and I know that they stay open late at night but this was Saturday and back home the bars open at 11am so come on Klamath get your act together lol. Anyway we found out that my mexican karaoke bar was serving drink so we entered in and it was more curiousity as I couldnt remember what the inside looked like from the night before. The bar staff and guy working there were brilliant and gave us nachos and dips (some very hot maybe so you will buy more beer to cool you down)and we got chatting to a guy called Jimmy Johnstone. Jimmy Johnstone back home was a great soccer player back in the 60's & 70's but he played for our rival team so although he was good we didnt like him ha ha but we also found out that the Miami Dolphins coach at one time was called Jimmy Johnstone so in one day we were chatting about three different Jimmy's - weird eh .
George at the MEMORIAL GARDEN for minute silence to remember 9/11

Klamath Falls is not a big town but it is so lovley and peaceful when the sun is shinning and warm on your face and the view from the lake is AWESUM and it is such a place that if you had money you could retire to there and spend your days looking out onto the lake what a place :-) . Down at the lake George fed the ducks and nearly got eaten alive by the seagulls as the more bread he threw the more they were gathering around him so maybe it was just as well the the big geese where not there today ha ha a bit like Alfred Hitchcock "THE BIRDS".After the lake we stopped off at the veterans memorial garden and had our minutes silence to remember the people of 9/11.

Back up the road we decided to go into the Dynasty bar for a couple of beers to get us out of the heat (any excuse will do) and play a bit of poker on their gaming machines.

the mexican karaoke bar
Although they call it a casino it is not like back home as these are just machines and not real people dealing and taking charge but it was fun and it passed the time away and we even managed to come out with $15 which was a profit of $6 wooohoo. it was back to the hotel and a shower and pack our bags before going down to the Bates Motel reception and seeing "Norman" to cash a cheque and say or farewell. To be really honest Norman was great with us and we left or luggage with him and decided to head to the Waldo one last time then get a cab from there back uo to the Motel to pick up our bags before heading to the rail station.

When we entered the gorgeous Angela the barmaid was sporting her Oregon Ducks college t-shirt and like everyone in the states they are really big on college football over here so goooooooo Ducks!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Me Angela Rick and Michael in Waldos
As usual we got chatting to a couple of guys in the bar named Rick and Micheal who insisted that they buy us a drink which we greatfully accepted then it was drink back and forth but we had to watch as we had to get to thestation for the 10.00 pm train to San Fran. I have seen things in movies before and always wanting to do this and seeing as we were in a small town and not many people in (maybe 11) my parting gift was "DRINKS ALL ROUND" which I got a great whoop for but George was outside having a cigarette so forgot to tell him it was coming out of the kitty money he he.

A few fond farewell and it was in the taxi to the hotel pick up the bags then onto the train for San Franciscio which will travel through the night and get us into Emeryvill for about 8.
the gorgeous Angela sporting the Oregan Ducks
15am and as the train arrives on time we get on and wait for the "ALL ABOARD" shout to get us on our way.Even at this time of night the train is very busy as there most be a lot of travellers heading to San Francisco and the surrounding area so I dont think the George and I will be able to stretch out on a double seat each. The train passes through two short tunnels before crossing the state line into Calafornia and if it was in the morning we would be able to catch a glimps of the Cascade bMountains highest peak which is Mount Shasta.I put on my ipod and earphones and lister to the group "AMERICA" and a great song called "Sister Golden Hair" which sums up this part of the journey as it speeds through California. We pass through a town call Dunsmuir where I had intended to stop and it seems a nice place and has a history with the railroad but all the hotels in town were book and to be honest it is better that it worked out this way as I would never have fell in love with "KLAMATH FALLS" and never met so many wonderful people there so its night night until day
