LOCH LOMOND
Stunning Loch Lomond is our favourite day trip spot in Scotland .The first time we went to Inversnaid we were amazed at the beauti of the loch with Arrocher alps in the background. If your feeling fit take a walk up Ben Lomond and see the whole of the loch below you . Balamaha is not too far from our home so we visit often for a bar meal in the Oak tree. On a nice day Tarbet is great place to picnic and stop and take photographs down the loch. Luss is a great wee village on the west bank.
Loch Lomond has the largest surface area of fresh water Loch in the UK. The Loch is 24 miles long and five miles wide and at its deepest point is some 600 feet deep. From Balloch you can take a boat trip up the loch.
I have added a few links to pages that might help you plan your visit to the Loch.

On the Loch there are approximately 38 Islands, some of them inhabited and there is even a Hotel on one, Inchmurrin. Loch Lomond must be the worlds most famous Loch and has been much written about, both in song and verse. The area is renowned for its beauty and tranquility and offers picture postcard views around every corner.

Scotlands first national park
The National Park feels worlds apart from the bustle of city life, yet it's less than an hour from Glasgow and not much more from Edinburgh. Roads and railways provide easy access to many places within the park, while cycle tracks and footpaths lead you to its hidden treasures. Two worlds collide here.
The gentle Lowlands end abruptly at the Highland Boundary Fault and give way to the mountainous landscape with narrow glens and slender lochs which has fired the imagination of writers and poets for centuries.
The wildlife of the area is as varied as its landscape. Arctic plants cling to the fragile moorland of the mountain tops while lichen and moss adorn the branches of the west coast woodlands in the warmth of the Gulf Stream. Steeped in history the National Park straddles the kingdoms of three ancient Celtic peoples - Scots, Picts and Britons and they brought with them their rich tradition of folklore, myth and legend.

Lochside walk between Balmaha and Rowardennan is a nice Sunday stroll Rowardennan is a small hamlet on the eastern shore of Loch Lomond in Scotland.
Rowardennan is at the northern end of the public road, but the West Highland Way passes through the village and continues north along the side of the loch. Rowardennan has a hostel and camping for hikers on the West Highland Way. A small passenger ferry crosses the loch to Inverbeg on the opposite shore.

The stretch between Rowardennan and Inversnaid on the West Highland Way is the roughest part, but it is a great stretch of the highland footpath. There is a lot of scrambling over, under and between huge crags. There are sections of rough shore-line, and leafy walks through the woodlands.
