 CHARITY  PUB CRAWL
At 2:00 pm on Saturday 25th of November 2000, chaos & general mayhem struck in the heart of Glasgow as the Famous Glasgow Gallon Club (F.G.G.C) kicked off it's inaugural meeting in Los Borracchas in Sauchiehall Street The idea behind the F.G.G.C, was to raise as much money as possible by holding a sponsored pub crawl along Sauchiehall Street, having a pint (later changed to a drink - for the whimps) in eight pubs. 8 pints = 1 Gallon

F.G.G.C paid a fiver to join in which went straight to the Aberlour Child Care Trust, collections were also held in the bars at the managements discretion. In an attempt to raise as much money as possible, anyone from Corus who was caught talkingabout work was fined £1 everytime work was mentioned - quiet a few people paid their fine(s) up front.

Following the success of the Glasgow Famous Gallon Club's (GFGC) first charity pubcrawl along Glasgow's Sauchiehall Street which raised £615 for the Aberlour Child Care Trust,a second GFGC charity pub crawl was held on Saturday 24th March 2001.

Subway crawl

The Subcrawl

The Glasgow Subway and its adjacent public houses are the focal point of a pub crawl known as the Subcrawl. Revellers buy an all day Discovery ticket, disembark at each of the 15 stations and have a drink in the nearest bar. Quite often, but not exclusively, Subcrawls are organised as part of the local Universities' Freshers' Week celebrations.

The intention was that we'd start our day off at Fat Boabs @ St Enoch Square and heading north and then west towards the Hayburn Bar @ Partick, however like all best laid plans we had to rethink our route when the Inner Circle on the Underground was closed due to a fault in the tunnel between Kelvinbridge and Hillhead Stations. So with that in mind we took the Outer Circle to Kelvinhall Station & the 3Judges Public House (missing out Partick & the Hayburn Bar altogether).

We were again accompanied by our director of music - Tam the Piper - and also some of Strathclyde Police' finest officers to keep us on the straight and narrow (more about them later).

We then moved to the Aragon Bar on Byres Road and watched some of the Scotland Vs Belguim and showed the students there how to drink!!! From there the day descended into chaos when the group got split up amongst Curlers, and various drinking establishments in Ashton Lane before all finally meeting up at Bar Oz @ Kelvinbridge for some tinnies

From Bar Oz we made our way to the Captains Rest @ Georges Cross where Tam entertained us by singing us some old Scottish and Glasweigian Songs, and then onto Trader Joes @ Cowcaddens by this time we were about 2 hours behind schedule it was decided that we'd finish the day there and with most people having more than one drink in the other pubs we had completed the task of having 8 pints, so there was nothing else left to do but to have another drink and for  Dougie to present the certificates.
Thanks goes to Brian Kelly for designing and running GFGC`S first website.
