            THE FRINGE

July 2010 Bairdstravel took the train to Edinburgh  to take in the world famous Edinburgh Fringe. Wr arrived around mid day and the Royal mile was buzzing . Great day can be had by walking up and down watching the street performers. Here`s a link to the Finge website

Edinburgh International Festival runs for 3 weeks in August

The Fringe mostly attracts events from the performing arts, particularly theatre and (the big growth area in recent years) comedy, although dance and music also figure significantly: in 2009 35% of shows were comedy and 28% were theatre. Theatre events can range from the classics of ancient Greece, William Shakespeare and Samuel Beckett, through to new works, and in 2009 37% of shows were world premieres

Please take the time to have a look at the sights of the Fringe

The Fringe has grown dramatically since its inception. Statistics for 2009 Edinburgh Festival Fringe concluded that it was the largest on record: there were 34,265 performances of 2,098 different shows in 265 venues. Ticket sales amounted to around 1.8 million.
