   Dunrobin castle
While in Golspie you must visit Dunrobin castle. We walked along the coast pathway
to the castle . The Falconry show is great.

Dunrobin Castle is a stately home in Sutherland, in the Highland area of Scotland. It is the seat of the Countess of Sutherland and the Clan Sutherland. It is located 1 mile (1.6 km) north of Golspie, and approximately 5 miles (8.0 km) south of Brora, on the Dornoch Firth close to the A9 road.

Nearby Dunrobin Castle railway station, on the Far North Line was originally a private station for the castle. Dunrobin's origins lie in the Middle Ages, but most of the present building is the work of Sir Charles Barry, the architect of the Palace of Westminster in London, who greatly extended the building in 1845. The resulting house has a "French Renaissance meets Scots Baronial" style. Some of the original building is visible in the interior courtyard.

A visit to Dunrobin Castle now includes daily birds of prey flying demonstrations at 11.30am, and 2.00pm on the Castle lawn. See spectacular shows featuring golden eagles and peregrine falcons, both resident birds in the Scottish Highlands. Learn more about other local birds of prey as well as the ancient art of falconry. Additional attractions include more exotic species such as the South American Chilean Blue Eagle and European Eagle owl.

Andy  Hughes  Dunrobins falconry expert . What a great show Andy put`s on everyday at
11.30 and 14.00 . After the show Andy explained to us how devoted he was to his job .
Every day of the year he had to fly his birds. No holiday or illness could get in the way.

Golspie  is a coastal village in Sutherland, Highland, Scotland. It has a population of around 1,650 people. It is located picturesquely on the shores of the Moray Firth in the shadow of Ben Bhraggie
.
Golspie beach

Golspie has award-winning beaches to the north and south of the tidal pier, where families can have safe bathing; there is a public swimming pool in the centre of the village for those who prefer warmer water.
