DORNOCH
What a wonderful week we had at Dornoch . Dornoch is famous for it`s excellent Cathedral but I must say the beach was the highlight of our stay . Miles of stunning golden sands all way round the coast. If you have a love of golf there`s a wonderful links course. Dornoch reminded me of our family holidays in Berwick upon tweed.
Great fresh air blowing of the Dornoch firth.
Day trips we did from Dornoch
Day 4 Dolphin spotting Moray firth [Chanonry point ]
Day 5 Walk along beach to Dornoch point watch out for the seals
WHERE WE STAYED
We decided to make Dornoch our base for the first week of our summer holidays. [2011]
After much searching we chose the Fairways self catering flat.
Lorna and I were delighted with the flat . It was our home away from home .
It had everything you need for a break in Dornoch.
Short stroll into the town and very handy for the sandy beach.
They have an information folder which helps you plan your day trips.
Thanks Irene and Douglas for making our holiday in Dornoch so special.
We hope to use it again someday
DORNOCH CATHEDRAL
When you walk in this 13th century cathedral you go WOW . Stunning stainglass windows . Really worth a walk round. When we were there the organist was playing Simon and Garfunkel`s bridge over troubled water .

The current minister (since 1998) is Rev Susan Brown, who achieved international fame for officiating at the wedding of Madonna and Guy Ritchie at nearby Skibo castle in December 2000. Rev Brown also baptised the couple's four-month old son Rocco at Dornoch Cathedral.
The Cathedral's churchyard is adjoined by Dornoch Castle, the somewhat reconstructed remains of the medieval palace of the Bishops of Caithness.
Favourite Restaurant in Dornoch Not cheap but great food and friendly staff.
We had a few beers in the Eagle inn which was also a great night out.
