     YUGOSLAVIA  NOW  CROATIA

OCTOBER 1987

Porec is a tourist centre famous for its beautiful natural landscape, long tradition in tourism and several well-equipped tourist resorts
We stayed the hotel Rubin in Porec OCT 1987
FOOD WAS GREAT
Took the boat to Rovinj which stunning.

Porec is situated on the west coast of Croatia, within the beautiful region of Istria. It is predominantly a tourist destination, with a pretty harbour, safe beaches, calm waters and 37 kilometres of coastline
Picturesque harbour. Awe inspiring sights.

Stone cobbled streets. In terms of postcard-pretty settings, holidays in Porec have got it all. But there's more to this Istrian holiday hotspot than bobbing boats, it's cathedral and the narrow paved alleyways that wend their way through the Venetian houses. There's a purpose built holiday resort, the Basilica Euphrasis with its fabulous mosaics and no less than 15 blue flag beaches.

DAY TRIP TO PULA  TO SEE ROMAN AMPHITHREATRE

 ULA

The Pula Arena is the name of the amphitheatre located in Pula, Croatia. The Arena is the only remaining Roman amphitheatre to have four side towers and with all three Roman architectural orders entirely preserved. It was constructed in 27 BC - 68 AD and is among the six largest surviving Roman arenas in the World. A rare example among the 200 Roman surviving amphitheatres of unique technological solutions. It is also the best preserved ancient monument in Croatia.
