MANAROLA
Cinque Terre
Bairdstravel took the train from Pisa to Monterosso .Takes about 1.30hrs and the fares are very cheap. Between the five lands there are footpaths or take the Train. In the summer there is a boat service between the villages.
All the villages have small hotels or inns and there are many bed and breakfasts throughout the area, many with beautiful views of the Mediterranean and the surrounding hills. There is a youth hostel located at the top of the town of Manarola (Hostel Cinque Terre). Also, many small apartment owners in some of the villages have banded together and offer use of their apartments through small, locally-owned hospitality businesses. The quality of these accommodations varies greatly, from great to something less than ideal for some. Finding an available room in the height of the tourist season can be virtually impossible in several of the towns, and because cars are not allowed, be prepared to drag your bags for miles over uneven stone streets, up steep inclines, and up staircases in the sweltering summer heat.

MONTEROSSO
Monterosso has the best beaches of the Cinque Terre villages and the most wine shops, artisan shops, hotels and restaurants. The village is divided into two parts from San Cristoforo hill and the old part of the village, protected by a rock spur, still presents the maritime village
VERNAZZO
Vernazza has a natural pier with a amphitheatre shape making it perhaps the most picturesque village of the Cinque Terre. Vernazza was a Roman installation and had a big strategical importance during the age of the Maritime Republics in Genoa. It was also famous for its carpenters.
walk from Corniglia to Manarola
Placed on a steep promontory, with two exclusive small beaches at its sides, Corniglia can be reached from the railway through a long flight of steps leading to the village (an elevator is being built).
MANAROLA
The village of Manarola is surrounded by vines and is situated along a stream. The wine of Manarola is very famous and the "Via dell’ Amore" starts here: an easy to walk, paved path a distance of two kilometres, connecting Manarola to Riomaggiore.
RIOMAGGIORE
Riomaggiore, has seduced artists into becoming residents. The tunnel next to the train tracks takes you to a fascinating tangle of colorful homes. Riomaggiore's beach, an uncrowded cove, is a two-minute walk from town.
The Cinque Terre...nowhere else does the lure of the Mediterranean, Italy, and village life combine so potently to shipwreck a speedy itinerary.
Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Rio Riomaggiore. These places are jointed by the so called "The Lovers' road": this is the most romantic and suggestive image of an extremely fascinating natural fresco. To those who love good wine is dedicated a peculiar speciality: the sciacchetrà. This is a white wine got out of the vine yards characterizing these zones. This wine is produced in limited amount and worthy of real connoisseurs.
BAIRDSTRAVEL IN CINQUE TERRA MARCH 2008
The grapes of the Cinque Terre are used to produce two locally made wines. The eponymous Cinque Terre and the Sciachetrà are both made using Bosco, Albarola, and Vermentino grapes. Both wines are produced by the Cooperative Agricoltura di Cinque Terre (“Cinque Terre Agricultural Cooperative”), located between Manarola and Volastra. Other DOC producers are Forlini-Capellini, Walter de Batté, Buranco, Arrigoni.
In addition to wines, other popular local drinks include grappa, a brandy made with the pomace left from winemaking, and limoncello, a sweet liqueur flavored with lemons.
